The deck’s title - The Nursemaid's 36 Tales - evokes the idea of bedtime stories. This deck emerged during the 2019 lockdown, a time when the artist found inspiration in Japanese aesthetics and the fascinating world of Yōkai - mysterious supernatural beings from Japanese mythology. The Yōkai, sometimes malevolent and mischievous, other times bringers of good fortune, served as the foundation for a visual narrative that shifts between nightmare and irony, between reality and dream. |
